creating coil

Stupid question methinks, but I've been playing around for hours trying to solve this and don't seem to be getting anywhere. I need to make a coil (preferably nurbs) for a filiment for a light globe. So I created a coil shaped curve and figured there must be a way to extrude it to create a 3d wire spiral but have tried all the settings and can't seem to get what I'm after. Any Ideas? Thanks

Use the spiral mel that ships with maya its in the unsupported directory!

naah just source it and run you dont actualy need to understand the script!
