I think it was on this forum that i saw a thread on how to create holes in surfaces but I can't find it. I believe that the example was Clouds sword from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.
Anyone else remember this thread? If so could you post a link.
Thanks

I've had no luck trying to find the thread and apparently nobody remembers it. I think the method was to create a cylinder and remove the ends, place the cylinder through the surface and remove the part of the surface that is inside the cylinder.
Unfortunately I don't know how to do it. lol

Sounds like you're talking about a "difference" boolean operation. You'll have to watch your surface normals.
Another way is to use the split polygon tool to essentially draw the shape of the hole you want, then delete the faces you don't want.
Ok, so if for example I had a nurbs cube with a polygon cylinder intercecting right the way through it, how would I make it look like a hole in the surface? I already know to delete the faces from the end of the cylinder.
Thanks

:EDIT:
I've managed to use the boolean difference tool and it as removed to protruding ends of the cylinder however the faces of the cube inside the cylinder still remane.
:EDIT:
Its alright, I didn't have all the face of the cube selected (I had to convert the cube to a polygon first)
