Hi, I've search hi and lo on the internet and this site and I can't find the answers to some very basic questions. Most importantly, cropping animations. It's important to note that I'm a programmer, not an artist, and I just need to do some basic things to animation files I'm working with. I prefer not to learn Maya fully, just how to do these basic operations.
I'm working with an skinned mesh of a human being with joints and controls already animated. The animation goes from frame zero to 1000. I want to crop the animation to only 600-641, such that post-crop the only animation data should be from frames 0->41.
I tried opening the Animation Graph Editor and I clicking on all hierarchies to see if I saw key data, but I found none (nothing showed up in the graph editor no matter what I selected). I tried baking the data, then copying and pasting the keys, but the end result was null (nothing seems to have been copied and pasted). I tried a cropAnim script I found in this site, but there were errors/warnings.
I would imagine cropping animation files would be incredibly common, but judging by the lack of chatter and documentation on it, maybe no one does this?
