Crossfade Textured To Wireframe And Back

I would like to know how to crossfade at a certain point in a composition - similar to this thread http://www.highend3d.com/boards/index.php?showtopic=232775 which is now unfortunatly locked - else I would have posted there

I have a textured version of a model on a turn table and a wireframe version of the same thing, I need one to fade into the other at a certain point and then fade back again so I can repeat, does anyone know how to do this in after effects?

put both renders on a timeline and:
animate your top layers opacity from 100 to 0 then 0 to 100 later on (shortcut key T when selected in the timeline).
or use the blend effect in the channels menu

bearing in mind I've only used after effects once before - how would I animate opacity :S

ahhh, ok, so import your two footage items. (file > import)
make a new comp with the correct size duration etc. (composition> new composition or file > new comp, i forget)
drag your two imported clips into the new comp timeline.
make sure the item you want to fade up (the wireframe) is on the top.
click T or click the little arrow to the left of the layer name.
you'll see a property called opacity, click the little stopwatch to set a keyframe.
move the playback head further on, click the number next to opacity (should be 100) and type in 0, another keyframe will automatically be created.
move the playback head further on, click the number next to opacity type in 100.
press 0 on the numeric keypad to ram preview.
viola.

couple o things, clicking the stopwatch off will delete all keyframes, you can move the keyframes along the timeline by dragging them and you can change there values by double clicking them.
