Custom Functions/windows Dlls

I've scanned the forums, and couldn't find an answer....so please patient with the new kid!

I'm trying to learn how to write macros for shake....I'm using windows version 2.51 and Visual Studio.net, and I wanted to do some custom functions. And to make it more difficult, I've only written a couple of DLLs and only used them in other VC++ programs. So can someone walk me through what needs to be done to create a standalone DLL including the compile settings? Also, with the dlls I've done, I needed to copy over the *.lib file, along with the *.h and *.dll. But I don't need to do that in Shake, do I?

thanks!

Here's what how I thought it should go:

header file:
#ifndef TESTLIB_H
#define TESTLIB_H

class _declspec(dllexport) testLib
{
public:
testLib(){}
~testLib(){}

dllexport void greetings();

};

#endif

CPP file:
#include
#define TESTLIB_EXPORTS
#include "testLib.h"

extern "C"
{
_declspec(dllexport) void greetings()
{
printf("Hello from DLL!\n");
}
}
