Customising Hotkeys

hi
i am new user to nuke,
how can i customise my keyboard hotkeys in nuke, i am more comfortable with shortcuts of shake and would like to impliment
on nuke too.. how can i?

copy menu.tcl (rename the original so you have a backup copy) and change as much as you like
if you're accessing nuke over a network with other users copy menu.tcl to your $HOME/.nuke directory, then change-should automatically load up next time you start nuke...

i did the changes which is indeed helpful

but how do i change the basic shortcuts like for zoom and pan, i dont find the option there for that.

I asked the same question a few days earlier-look at the viewer hotkeys post.... Basically if you're talking about changing the pan + zoom in the 3d viewer its possible to change it from the preferences menu to be like houdini or maya

...if you're talking about changing the controls for navigating around the node graph/view thing there's a very limited modification available and its kind of dependant on the flavour of linux you're using and how customisable it is.... as far as i know it isn't possible to alter this in windowmaker, if you're using it in gnome u should be able to modify the way frank suggested in my earlier post and if you're using kde it's fairly simple to change-its under the window behaviour menu... theres also a little bit about it on pg45 of the help manual too.

if i understand correctly you won't however be able to ever change it to be exactly like shake bugged me when i started using it so i've basically ended up using kde to alter it slightly... as did the fact that to delete nodes your selection box has to include the noodles that the nodes are linked to else the nodes won't delete... hope that helps...!

i am a mac user and i use OSX Nuke, to add more i am a pen user(intous).
i wished i could zoom or pan the viewer like shake, since i am used to shake for the past 5 years,
its kind of difficult, hope u understand.

well i am not that familiar with Kde, is there anyother way out.

i just need 3 controls like shake

1. zoom the viewer and node graph
2. pan the viewer and node graph
3. include a node between the noodle (like the "N" shortcut of shake)

kindly help, if you have customised it.

Hi Zameer! I haven't used nuke on a mac recently but i don't think its possible to modify the hotkeys for navigation control and they are fairly similar to shake anyway...

1 alt and mmb click to zoom
2 alt and lmb click to pan
3 no n command-think shake a few versions back when you could drag a node over a pipe/noodle so that the pipe/noodle is highlighted and let go and the node would become part of the tree at that point

...did you find your menu.py for altering other shortcuts in nuke (ie using e for extract rather than the ctrl shift and x combination, or replacing d with i to ignore nodes?)-if you didn't go to nuke in your applications menu and rmb click + choose show package contents... should be in the folder Content/MacOS/plugins/menu.py remember to keep a copy of the original tho!
