I've really been enjoying learning Renderman via www.fundza.com using Cutter in conjunction with 3Delight
I've hit a roadblock when creating shadowmaps though. For some reason
when I create them with a prepass they are written to the Cutter root
dir and then the light shader doesn't access them.
Using this tutorial:
http://www.fundza.com/rman\_booklet/adv\_lighting.pdf
Producing the following error:
'tdlmake' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
3DL ERROR T2040: 'shadow.tx' not found (in shader 'shadowdistant' on object '')
In addition I've attempted the Cutter built in methods of activating
shadowmap generation, both right-click in shadowmap name as well as
the Rman Tools- Docs menu
Using this Tutorial (before removing the extraneous light shader params):
http://www.fundza.com/rman\_shadows/depthmap\_shadows/index.html
Using RC- Render Shadow Map gives the following error:
Cutter is unable to generate a shadow pass using the following values of the "shadowspot" LightSource:
"from" 0.0 0.0 0.0
"to" 0.0 0.0 0.0
The Values of "from" and "to" must be different otherwise the light is pointing at itself!
Using the Rman Tools- Docs- Shadow Pass command returns the error:
"The name of the LightSource shadow texture does not contain a ".tx" or ".tex" file extension."
Both of the previous errors don't equate to what I've input from the
tutorials. Has anyone had this same problem and found a way around
it? I've tried replacing files with full paths and even adjusting any
*.tx to read *.tdl
I should mention that I have tried this with three versions of Cutter 5.5.5, 5.5.8 and 5.5.9
Best regards,
