Cv's coordinates

Every time I try to visualize the coordinates of selected cvs in the channel box I only have zeros.
Is there a way to have in the channel box the global coordinates of the selected cvs ?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. But when ever you have cv's selected, "CV's (click to show)" should show up in your channel box. Click on that and you'll get the values for each CV.

in channel box & attribute editor there are relative value of CVs. If you go in the select tab (in the right side of main maya windows) and select 'abs' you can enter absolute numeric value of xyz (separated by space).

But question: someone know if it is possible insert only z or y value?

When you select the cvs of a nurbs sphere and click on the channel box you have just a list of zeros. This doesn't seem very usefull.

it seems very strange to not have the possibility to have global
coordinates in the channel & the attribute editor.

When you have global coordinates you can use += operator
to have the same feature you have with local coord and
for example you can easily change only the z or y values of the selected cvs, etc ... This seems more powerfull.

Does anyone know how to display the global coordinates ?

Alnitak: you can use a '.' (period or full stop character) as a sort of null character in the numeric input box, so for example entering '. 5 .' will move the selected item +5 in the Y-axis (if you're using abs mode) without affecting the X or Z.

Hello All-

To display the world coordinates for an object's cvs in the Channel Box, type in the Command Line: setAttr objectName.rtw 0. This sets the object's relativeTweak value to 0. To display the world coordinates for a curve's edit point, type: xform -q -t -ws curve#.ep[#]. These coordinates will display in the Command Line.

I made a very basic mel to set the relative tweak value for all the shape nodes in the scene.
The relative tweak value seems efficient for the nurbs shapes but not for the polygons.
Is there another attribute to display the global coordinates of polygon objects ?

here is the very basic script I wrote, it allows to visualize the global (value = 0) or local (1) coordinates of nurbs shapes cvs :
