Damn! pentium sucks!

im not sure its the pentiums fault or what but...

i've been using an AMDk7 Athlon 500 computer for about three years and loved it till one day it just died... i gave my computer to this guy to change the motherboard and he gave me a pentium3 500 telling me that its much better than amd... well guess what, it really sucks. i keep crashing at LEAST 5 times a day. is this really because its a pentium now? if not, then what do you think it might be?

well when the pc died did you just put in a new motherboard and proc and leave the os and everything the same that could be part of your problem
did the guy install the new drivers or what ever the motherboard may need

have you tried a reinstall of your os
sounds to me like it could be major driver conflicts
i ran a PII 400 for a long itme and it was great

well, this guy fixes computers for living so i thought maybe he's right...the problem is that he also added extra rams to my computer so i thought it was going to be even faster. he told me that when my motherboard died, my harddrive died with it too, so i reinstalled my win2k. but the thing is that he's doing all this for free!! so i couldnt complain

ive had similar trouble with new ram before. you might want to try it without the new sticks.
what does He think about this mess?

couple questions
1 where did you get the ram from and does it match up with your motherboard

i made the mistake once of not putting my motherboard into the options from crucial and just ordered any old non-ecc pc 133 sdram and it caused my system to crash and have some other weird erros i called crucial turned out they had 2 different ways of making the pc 133 ram 1 buffered and 1 un-buffered i believe (again not ecc but buffered) and my mobo had major issues with the Buffered ram so i simply sent it back and crucial sent me the un-buffered ram and my machine ran perfectly after that
