Hello all,

First post on here..just got into the world of XSI and have some scripting questions if you don't mind...

I've developed SQL Database Driven sites via ASP Pages using VBScript and hoping to incorporate that knowledge into XSI..I'm glad XSI uses VBScript.

What I'd like to do is while the artists are doing their thing in XSI I'd like to have a script that will automatically setup their render options to render to a specified path based on their project....and then execute an asp page that will enter the path into a SQL database. If I can execute SQL commands within XSI via vbscript that would be sweet but I'm thinking I'll need an asp page to do this part.

FYI the reason why I want this is because a lot of times the decision makers are on the road...and if the path to the render was in a database they can just log into our network and just click on a hyperlink which would show them the frames for approval. Plus the artist have a hell of a time trying to remember the paths to render to.....

Also is it possible to get rid of the "Delete Project" Button?

This can be a serious problem if an artist makes a mistake or worse is pissed @ the company!!

You can add/edit/delete/view records through a createobject("adobdb.connection") object but im not sure about any methods for SQL commands. You can run system commands like:
dim rc '//rc is the return code for the command execution 1=true 0=false
System "D:Softim~1XSI_1.5Applic~1binSISHELL.bat", rc
Which could be a solution for you if you have a db with command-line options.
User paths are as follows:
Application.InstallationPath( siProjectPath )
Application.InstallationPath( siUserPath )
Application.InstallationPath( siWorkgroupPath )
Application.InstallationPath( siFactoryPath )
The .RenderOptions parameters are all logged in the script
editor when they are changed - so check them out that way
