DELL,Boxx Technologies,HP

I'm looking at a new machine and I'm wondering which company to go with. Boxx has 3d boxx's but I never hear of anyone using them. I've used dell in the past there great but I'm curious as to know how these HP and Boxxs perform. Thanks

As someone who used to support both Boxx and Dell at work I recommend Boxx.

The only reason you may want to go with Dell is if you can get it for a significantly cheaper price, say $500 cheaper (which may happen). But don't buy it before getting a counter-quote from Boxx.

Boxx use non-propriatary hardware (which is extremely important). They have tech support that is accessible and knows about 3D applications. They care about their reputation in this particular segment of the market.

I agree completely with dvornik. If you can, always stay away from propietary equipment.

The best thing about going with Dell is reliability and tech support if your in a corporate environment. If you are by yourself, then you don't need this at all. Sure Dell's may sometimes be cheaper but there is a reason. 9x out of 10 you'll end up with a faster machine building it yourself or going with a company like Boxx.

Actually, to add to this; I just recently, two days ago, ordered a Dell workstation. [I work in a corporation and have no choice] Dual 2.4 Xeons, 1 gig Ram, 40 gig IDE, 48x CD-RW, Windows XP, ATI Fire GL E1 64 MB, no sound card. Its a machine strictly for rendering and no editing. I looked up the same machine at Boxx and it came to $50 more at Boxx.

If I had a choice I'd build my own. But between the Dell or Boxx, I'd go with Boxx.

I'm interested in DELL versus BOXX? Which has the lowest noise (quietest cases) in the dual xeon models? Boxx doesn't have built in firewire and Dell does.. What about overall performance?

Boxx are not too loud - similar to my Dell 530 - smaller box than the 530, but remember that we are doing 3d with dual processors, cranking, you are going to get more noise out of any machine.

1U racks of any system made are the absolutely loudest systems you can get.

firewire? Spend the 35$ on the pci card.

Boxx is great because they know how we work and do not add that extra pc crap that only people using MS word would even look at. Boxx is like building your own machine, but with support.
