Hey guys.
Maybe someone can suggest a more elegant solution than my cave-man method. Here's what I am trying to do:
I am trying to create an animated depth map from a 2D photo. The resulting b&w sequence will be used in a plug-in called DOFPro through Photoshop. Here are the steps I am using:
- I have created a Rotoshape for the part of the photo I want to focus in on. This is painted completely white. (BTW, is there a method like photoshop of just filling the rotoshape with a color insted of manually painting it in?) I have set a keyframe for this starting point.
- I then invert the rotoshape to color in the remaining part of the photo black.
- I then proceed to the ending time of this sequence and reverse the process - meaning the background is now completely white and the foreground Rotoshape is completely black. I set a key at the ending point.
- A fileout node is used to render out the b&w sequence to use in DOFPro.
That's it...Ugh, Ugh..
Any suggestions to streamline the process?
Thanks for everyone's time!
