Dual P4 mobos for small renderfarm

Hi there. Just been told by my boss we need to set up a small renderfarm. havent done any research yet. Just want to seek out some ideas here first with regard to the best dual P4 mobos based on experience. Our 2yr old workstations here are already dual mobos made by Asus with two 1GHz PIII each. So far its been great. very stable. That's why I prefer to use P4 for the renderfarm since it has to be stable and fast. Is dual xeons worth the price? Or regular flavor P4 is enough?

For all I know they don't exist; so if you want SMP with the newer p4's; its xeons or bust.

the dual capable p4 is the Xeon of the same hertz.
They do not make the p4 to work as a dual processor as far as I know.

of course intel made that same claim about p2's and p3's
but then again intel actually made dual capable motherboards for both cpu's

From what i have read VIA is working on a dual P4 chipset all their own. Yep, not of the Xeon variety either, but regular good old P4's. But given that it is a VIA it probably will take them a few revisions to get the thing reasonably bug free and stable. Personally i don't care for VIA products based on prior experience in the not too distant past. I thought the idea they have was an interesting one though regardless.

yeah via's dual p3 chipset had much to be desired..
will have to see how well the dual p4 works.
maybe they'll do this one right

time will tell but it will be a cold day in hell before i pony up any money on another VIA product ever again. No thank you. I would rather shell out the additional clams for something that is going to work well and consistently.

If you want cheap w/ reliability get BOXX dual AMD rack units. They will warranty it, which is the advantage over buiding it yourself.

What's their site? Im gonna have a look. Can't find any dual P4's out there and xeons are way too expensive for us.
