Editable menu ?

How can we create an editable menu using MEL/Python, as in Qt?
We are using Maya 2009; No Qt.

All gui items in maya are allways editable tough that doesnet mean you can make a gui for it or any sane additions either.

no it does not, you can hook a premenu command that nukes the menu to contain only what you need at build and then just recreate whetever the hell was there later.

ok. the user should be able to type a new value into the menu in addition to selecting already existing items. i cant use any othr additional ctrls like textfield, etc in my case.
