i am trying to engrave lettering into the inside of a ring. i already created the text, but wheni try to do a curve on surface, it wont work. got any other ideas?? i also want to give that engraved look....dunno how to do that....maby loft?
Have you tried bump mapping?Make the letters in photoshop, black in the center and white outside.Might take a few tries to get it right, but should look just as good.
ive thought of that, but getting the letters lines up perfectly will take some time. i thought maybe there would be a much quicker and easier way

Yeah... I like being repeated.Anyway, how about making the text in 3D then use the boolean option to subtract the text from the object to be engraved.
i got it to work with the bump map after hours of getting it lined up . . the only problem is that the lettering used it somewhat pixelated just a tad. it is a high res .bmp though. i think i will try the boolean operations...if i didnt try it already.
could perhaps try using a wire deformer?
