Howdy Ppl...
First time poster, long time animator...
I am using Maya unlimited 3.0 under win2k, and I'm having trouble getting a character to render. When i go to the render diagnostics, i get a whole bunch of messages similar to this:
blend_16|rearhead|rearheadShapeOrig has no shading group associated with it. This
means that it will not be rendered. Please assign it to a shading group.
Now, the weird thing is that blend_16|rearhead does actually exist, and it is assigned to a shading group. It works fine. It's this bizarre phantom shape with ORIG at the end of the name that is bugging me... All of the render diagnostics messages have orig at the end of all of the shapes within the scene.. These appear in the diagnostics screen, but i can't actually see them in the scene... I'm assuming that these shapes, and their inability to be assigned to a shading group is the problem. I have tried deleting the shape by selecting it's name in the name input selection box, which works, but it doesn't get rid of the msg from the render diagnostics...
ARGH! So, are these shapes with ORIG on the end of their name supposed to be there, or are they supposed to be deleted? If i try to assign a shader to them, it doesn't work. Could there be a problem with my shaders? i have tried creating a new shader and assigning it, but that gives me the same result.
But apart from that... everything else is just dandy...
I leave my character's fate in your hands..
thanks for your time.
