Error:Unknown workspace

Hello & Thanks...

When trying to save as/import/export a scene or selection, Maya 3 & 4 returns "Error: Unknown Workspace". This only happens after I perform one of these functions (I only get one shot, then it seems to stick) or after I use Maya for sometime. Fortunately, I am able to save. So, my workaround is restarting Maya and making that function the first thing I do. If I have to do another, I must restart Maya again.

I'm running win2k on a dual 933 mhz, dual head system w/ 3 GB of ram. I have tried to trash the prefs folder, but to no avail. Any ideas?

First, I misspoke... I am not able to import at all, regardless if it is the first thing I do or not. :

Also, I have tried to kill the workspace.mel file, but this does not seem to help.

I get this all the time, Maya seems to get very forgetful when setting the project to the root of a mapped network drive. Our project work is on a drive that I've mapped to V:, so I set the current project to V: - everything's fine at first but when I go to load textures it's suddenly forgotten where it's working from. Just give it a reminder by doing Project -> Set again, everything should be okay once more (that's if it is the same bug we're getting). It's annoying but hardly fatal.
