Error with maya cloth scene - "CpClothPlugin

Someone please help ... this is becoming a nightmare.

About every other time I save a scene, I get this error when I try to reopen it: "Warning: Plug-in, "CpClothPlugin.mll", is already loaded. Skipped."
The scene's layers are gone, all the geometry is missing and the only thing really there are the curves I used to create my character's shirt and pants.

This is the full error:

I'm confused as to why its trying to open a paint effects script. I haven't used paint effects at all. This is just your basic polygon modeled character with cloth.

-would recommend uninstall, then re-install Maya- had a simular problem once, hasn't occured since... Other than that you will probably have to open the file into the script editor and look for the error, but if you don't know what to look for this could be impossible... But to check it just open the script editor then File>open Script>scene name? "most likely to find the error you would have to re-create the scene as it was checking the script editor constantly to see where ther differences area. Try re-install first though,
-Question are you saving as .mb or .ma, .mb corrupts easily when using cloth, .ma is much more stable (bigger file but more stable...) Hope it helps..

Thanks for the response Sid and the tip with the .ma instead of .mb. I didn't try reinstalling Maya, but I may have figured out the problem.

My character's hair is a polygon object with a jiggle deformer on it. The hair was a child of the head/neck. The head/neck was a collision object for the shirt. I unparented the hair from the head and then grouped them together. Then I deleted the hair's connection to anything cloth related. So far this seems to have solved the problem.

This is fine for what I'm doing, but I'm wondering what one would do should they be animating a character's beer belly with a jiggle deformer and then having a conflict with the connection to the shirt he is wearing.

Perhaps a reinstall would solve the problem as you said. Or maybe Maya 4.5 is a bit more reliable with cloth? O how I wish I had 4.5.

-Not sure what you mean by the beer belly jiggle? Are you trying to add this after you've added cloth, then getting a conflict- like not working correctly or causing errors? Rule of thumb would be add the jiggle before the cloth, but you can add the jiggle after, as long as you haven't run the animation as a sim yet, "Only Local sim" or you would have to re-sim the entire animation.. Basically if you 've done local sim draped the guarment then added the jiggle and got conflicts this would be because Maya is trying to calculate the cloth before the jiggle- simple fix for that if it is the case..
-RMB the surface that is the belly and go to all inputs MMB drag the jiggle node below all nodes accept the surface node and leave all nodes followed as is...
-Maybe thats not what your looking for, can't really make out what you meant.. -But it kinda sounds like that in a sence was your problem with the hair because having the inputs in the wrong order "being built or set up in the wrong order to begin with, creating a negative double translation or such" can cause maya to error just as you previously described.. -But not a big deal when you know where to go to fix it...
