Exporting from XSI into Soft 3.8

I get an error when trying to do this with a polygon mesh.
From XSI I go File->Export->dotXSI (with my polygon object selected)
I select the ASCII format, and give the file a name, and press ok.

Then, back in softimage 3.8, I go Tools->Import->Object->ASCIIImport+

I then select my exported .xsi file (which I placed on the desktop), and I get this error:

Error: * (#95): ASCIIImport

Anybody else gotten that lovely message? Any workarounds?

You will need to use Softimage|3D version 3.9.2.2 and later to get the most reliable import from XSI. Softimage|3D version 3.8 only supported .XSI files version 1.1, 1.3 and 2.0.
