I have this biped model, which I created in Maya for the base mesh and then exported it to ZBrush to add details to it. the rig works pretty well on the base mesh so i think its pretty ok. Now I would like to paint the weights on the the low res version (the base mesh) and then transfer the weights onto the high res character (Base Mesh 8000 faces, High res version:34000 faces). I tried the copy weights tool but it did not give me the best rsults as I would still need to go in and adjust the weights quite a bit.
I then tried the export skin weights tool and that was even worse. I have not done any texturing on it yet and just created the UV texture coordinates with automatic mapping - is that maybe my mistake? Is there maybe any scripts/ plugins out there which can reliably transfer weights....or do I just have to face the fact that I will need to reajust the weights on the high res character?
I would appreciate any help, as it is driving me insane. Should I just give up hope on my high res character?
