exporting rig

hello there,

i used the setup machine rig and did skining in maya 2011. i need now to use maya 2009 and when i try to bring the skinned object from 2011 to 2009 the rig doesnt work.... does somebody knows a way that can make it work?

going backwards is sortof like thsi its not guaranteed to work. But lets start out with making yoru question answerable:

Help me Help you. What doesnt work? what specific errors do you get? How doent it work. What breaks and so on.

Joojaa is right: we need more information.

How far have you gotten in your attempts to transfer versions?  Have you tried saving as a .ma file and changing the version info there?

I've never used Setup Machine, but I do know it's a plugin.  However, I do not know if a plugin is required to simply load the rig.

You can also when opening a file, click on the options and let turn on the ignore version checkbox.

Not everything will translate over. If you want a perfect rig in 2009, start over, or repair the rig you got with any of the methods mentioned here.
