Exporting to midi

Hi,

For controling sound via animation I want to export events in a maya scene to midi. But I just can't find an ascii to midi converter or something like that that would enable me to communicate with a program like ableton live or similar.
What can I do? I there another format?

PS I don't want / need the connection to be direct / 'live' ... it's better when it's first baked out to a file
(edit) PPS Oh, yes, I've seen the plugin in the download section, but it's not for 2011 and I'd prefer something that works with ascii conversion, so I have more control and overview

You could try to use python.

Mark Conway  has written a module for python which you can use.

I tried to export some audio directly from maya based on a moving cube and that works fine ^^.

Oh boy,
I just knew that some day or another I would have to learn python, so why not start now ... thanks!

But if anyone knows a MEL way to do it I'd appreciate it, too...
