When I extract from polygons how can I get the UVs to not get deleted when I freeze the new object? Actually all I want to do is select some polys and separate them into a new mesh. Extract from polys seemed like the right tool but if there is a better one please let me know(like some kind of a poly separate tool that breaks all continous geometry into separate objects). Is there a way to (in the same action) separate out selected polys into a new object and not just duplicate them so I will have to go back and delete them off the original object. Thats really annoying. Thanks,

Instead of the extract from polygons, you could duplicate the object and delete the polygons you don't need. This will ensure that the UVs are kept intact.
