I am hoping that this thread will be used to gather information and share people's opinions and experiences on the various facial animation/lipsync software, toolsets, and tool functions so other people that are curious about the available software

Well I've mainly used jason osipa's technique for developing a facial system. Did it in maya and results were better than conventional techniques used before. I think its not just about the tools but about your approach to facial setup and animation.
