Fade Operation And Shadow Correction

Hello everybody,

I seem not to be able to find an opacity controllel or fade node. Also When I comp my shadow, with shuffle+invert and multiply on the background, i dont seem to be able to use the color correction node or grade to correct my shadow as the dont do what I think they shoud do. If I unpremult and premult the image again, it doenst work, as the image still get affected on the whole. Can someone help?

a fade node is nothing more than a multiplication of RGB and A so you can use a Grade or Multiply node to achieve that effect.
as for the grading, it sounds like you don't have a proper alpha channel to (un)premultiply by (probably completely white). either use the lift knob in a Grade node you can tweak the shadow colour without effecting the white point. you could also copy the shadow channel into a colour constant and premultiply that.

it is really strange tho, cos sometimes the gain and multiply paramenter in the grade not work as a fade and sometimes they just what they are suppose to do, alter the brightness... Maybe it depends on the kind of image. Example, if I use an image rendered from a 3d package(like a constant pass) the gain/multiply make the image darker or brighter, as I would expect, But then If I use images created in photoshop they alter the opacity. I don`t get why...

the gain should not be touch for a simple fade.
Use the simple multiply node insteed of grade with everything if what you want is only fade.
