Fcheck resizing and saving

I know you can playback in fcheck with specified image sizes such as half the resolution for example, but are there any mel commands that will allow you to use fcheck to create / render, say, half res (or specified res) images from an original sequence ?

....anyone?...anyone at all??

I don't think there's any kind of mel interface to fcheck, but I could be wrong. You can always 'system' it, and specify resizing options in the command, but I don't think there are any options for re-saving the files... I think you have to do this interactively.

You're probably better off using 'system' to hook yourself up to a real compositor, or you could write a plugin and do it yourself. See all the iff*.cpp example plugins under devkitplug-ins.

yeah I came to the same conclusions, hence this post I was hooking it up to Shake and just running a shake script as a system command. It works fine, but I was hoping it might be possible to do it through fcheck as shake licenses are like gold dust in vfx facilities.

Sadly, I am no plugin writer so that ain't an option Oh well...

Take a look at imconvert. It should be in your maya/bin directory. It can resize images along with a lot of other things. You can call it from a system command.

--g

Where did that come from?!

I've used 'imgcvt' alot but never 'imconvert'. Has that always been there???? This thing sure supports some crazy file formats....

Thanks for the heads up!

Thats brilliant thanks loads

imconvert is derived from the ImageMagick suite of command-line image processing tools. They are free and do almost image editing operation you could ever need with a system command issued from Maya.

yep, I got that working. The only problem with using imconvert, is that it requires the imageMagik.mgk file in your bin directory in order for file ouput to work. So, for anyone who is interested, the free download of image magik will include a file for either windows or linux called imagemgk.mgk.in ....put this in your maya bin directory and rename it to just imagemagilk.mgk without the ".in", and now when you use imconvert commands it works with full functionality. A great utility indeed.

Thanks for pointing me at that one guys.
