FFD in maya

...those of you who use gimme a hand. what is the tool in maya that does the same as FFD modifier in max...so instead of 30 cv's i can handle the same curve/surface/polygon with just a couple of points...

Try the lattice deformer
I guess thats what youre looking for

the lattice deformer is pretty much the same as the maxffd box. It is under deform.createlattice. Have the surfaces that you want the lattice to affect selected. When you are done, instead of deleting the lattice, delete the history on the surfaces that the lattice is attached to. edit.delete history

Actually, it's also called ffd in the channel-box - but lattice in the menu set.
