When exporting standard DV footage out of Final Cut Pro when I open the quicktime movie the resoultion is set to 640 x 480 when I wanted to export a 720 x 480 size.
The problem is that even though I type 720 x 480 in the custom settings for the "size" when I export it and open the final rendered movie in quicktime it shows a 640 x 480 movie size.
The problem I recently found out is that Quicktime is displaying it at a 640 x 480 even though it is rendered at 720 x 480. If you look at the movie info (apple i) it says 720 x 480 - displaying at 640 x 480. The question I guess now is how do you get quicktime to display it properly automatically. When I brought the file back into Final Cut and Shake it was reading the proper file dimensions, so that's a relief.
So it is a quicktime displaying issue, which a little better to know. I noticed that when you look at the properties (apple j) and look under the visual settings it says 640 x 480. The Preserve Aspect Ratio is checked and you can uncheck it and manually change it back to 720 x 480. Though this method can be a little tedicious.
I noticed that it started doing this after one of the recent Quicktime updates. I also noticed if you export with just Quicktime (instead of quicktime conversion) it works fine.
If anyone knows of any preferences to turn on or off that would fix this it that would be great.
