Flexlm Error (2)

Hii..guyss....

I need your help. Urgent ! When i started my Flexlm services. It can't connect through the server. It said :

Flexlm

Connection to server failed
Server ("3DARTS") did not respond within 5 seconds
this server may not exist, or communications are not possible at this time
See your System Administrator for assistance

I have tried to reinstall everything. But still happened the same thing. What is this all about ? I even re-install my NT. It still the same. This was happened suddenly when i wanted to start my SoftImage nor Maya. This is never happen before. Helppp...

Wait, are you working on a client computer that needs to get it's license from a license server, or are you working on a stand alone computer with a dongle? This is very important to know. If your working on a client computer, then something is either wrong with the license file that specifies which server the license is on, or the server itself. If your working on a stand alone computer with a dongle then your license is not configured correctly.

I'm running on single processor, means that stand alone computer with dongle.

I have checked everything. My Host name in system32 dir and every license and where's the location include my IP Address.Butt....the same thing happen here. Any idea ? What am i going to do ? Help...

Hi,

I've had that problem too. I never succeeded at installing that FlexLM until I installed a network adapter in my computer; and properly installed it with drivers and all in the NETWORK control panel of winNT. There is probably an easier solution, but It worked for me twice as I've had that same problem on another computer of mine and it did the trick on this one too.

I have a network card already. As i said in the previous message. When i want to start Flexlm Service. Suddenly it didn't start. I think my Network Card was burn...

When i checked the Service Control Manager, it said there's no network....huh ? What the hell is going on ? Should i have to buy a new network card ? Any idea guys ?

Hi,

I had a similar thing happen to me. Nt said I didn't have Network installed even though I could go on the internet and even though I had my network card properly installed and configured. The only way I found to make Maya work for me was to have that network card up and running. I strongly suggest you make sure your network card is working and if it's not try buying one cheap for 10 bucks and install Networking and the drivers for the card in your computer. Should get things running again....

FlexLM is looking for the IP of your machine, normally you shouldn't need a network adapter as it should get it from the name of your computer and have a particular IP. My maya gets the IP from my network adapter since I'm on cable modem and since I have a static IP.

try also installing an ms loopback adapter in the networking section.

that does the same thing as a card i think.

It's true that i've to make the network run. something wrong with my Network Card. I'm using Ms LoopBack Adapter now. And i can see the words "Maya" and "Softimage 3D" now. Thanks Sebastien....and thanks for giving me a clue. It's a very kind of you.

Hi , i'm having similar troubles with maya3 on win2000.
I can't seem to get the flexm to recognize the license, and the needed stepr of where to assign or designate the network card and to what? also the alternative solution of the ms loopback driver. is another thing i cant get goin. I am new to w2000 so any help would be great.

Installing the loopback adapter in WIn2k is very similar to NT 4.0. I believe the only differnce is the name.

NT 4.0 uses Network Neighborhood
WIn 2k uses My Network Places.

If memory serves me right in Win 2k just right click on my network places and choose properties. Or from control panel double click on the Network or My Network Places Icon to bring up the Networking properties.

If you still can't install the loop back adapter in Win2k. Try this
Look around for "install windows components" in Control Panel.
From there you should be presented with a window with a scroll bar. In the network compontents you should find MS Loopback Adapter. Be sure to have your Win 2k disks handy and assign some ip address. The standard 192.168.0.1 should do or whatever.

I hope the helps...remember I'm only going by memory, I've tossed my Win2k installation.

I used to use MS Loopback Adapter in the place of a NIC in my MAX days to implement Batch rendering.

hi, thanks for the input about the loopback driver, it still, however, won't recognize the license.? i uninstalled the ( thanks for the continued help mind you. ) ethernet card i have but it still didnt work out . I have a dynamic ip, through a cable modem ...? thanks again, is there a list of available ports? ( 744, 745, 7004?) I've just go to win on this issue, then i'm through the hurdle, i am willing to do a contract for the person who walks me through this installation (3 years cg devel, and spec effects.)Thanks.
