Flint on Linux

I read that Flint 9 is going to be released on the Redhat Enterprise platform. Does anyone know what version this is? I'm guessing 3.0 WS would make the most sense.

If I prefer a different Linux distro, would Flint run on it? I realize that Discreet wouldn't be able to support it anymore, but our in-house Linux guys are amazing so I'm not too worried. We're trying to cut costs by not having to pay for Redhat Enterprise.

Red Hat Enterprise WS is $170, give me a break. Your paying 90k for a system and bitching about paying for RH? I personally use other versions of linux but would not mess with something like this when you paying a pretty penny for support.

I suppose I was a little unclear. When I said "pay for Redhat Enterprise" I meant hiring new staff to support it. Our linux staff payroll is significantly larger than the price of support for Flint.

Yes, it does relay not matter how much a software costs the costs for personell is allmost allways much higher. But if your linux staff is realy so incompetent thet they cant supprt a different distro why bther having them on the payroll?

Exactly Joojaa.

Personally after learning Irix, it was easy to pick up Solaris, Tru64 and later half a dozen linux distributions and i'm a compositor.
