i would like to create a simulation of smoke billowing out of a burning car and being blown by the wind. there is relatively little documentation on Maya Fluids considering their extreme complexity. it's difficult for me to wade through all of this with no direction. some tutorials would be very helpful.
i've checked out the examples on the alias website, but none are similar to what i would ike to do. does anyone know where there are more to download? also, will i be better off using particles to create this smoke effect?
I would recommend using particles and not using fluids. Although fluids are great they are like what ratracing used to be when it first came out. They are extremely memory intensive. This is only my opinion on them as I am currently working with them to generate cloud simulations. Render Times are crazy!!! Also try using Paint Effects smoke I achieved some good results usings those.
