Folding Paper Using Ik

Hi,
does anyone have an idea how to animate pop up book using IK?
I am not very familiar with this technique but would be grateful for any help. I've tryied to folow up the Digital tutors lectures but didn't find appropriate help.

I suggest that,

select the vertices that you want and make a lattice deformer on them.
from the smaller piece first then bigger pieces
skin the lattice to the joints

I don't really know why you need Ik handle because, when the book opens it's rotation.
Fk control doesn't cut it?
