Hello Maya friends!
I wanted to give out a Free toolkit that covers the basics of rigging, animation, and modeling!
It’s meant to serve as an “all-in-one” art pipeline package, especially catered to Maya beginner and intermediate users. This will help you to:
1. Create your own model
2. Rig your exciting new model
3. Animate your rig
This is perfect for:
- beginners looking to experiment with different sides of game dev
- small indie teams of generalists
- personal projects
- and simply people looking to speed up their work and reduce the tedious manual tasks of daily CG life!
Although this is catered to beginners and intermediates by being user-friendly, focusing on the basics, and having strong, easily readable documentation, I think it will benefit users of any level.
When I was a student, I struggled finding Maya plugins. I didn’t know where to look, what to look for, or even the fact that they existed.
I believe Maya does not work too well without external tools, and especially in the rigging and animation department. While a lot of tool packages have amazing quality, they are often stand-alone tools you need to collect yourself, or they come with a high monthly price-tag.
That's why I wanted to share all my favorite tools that I created for myself over the past years in various AAA jobs.
Life is especially tough for Maya students and beginners, and I heavily empathize with all of you. My own student days were confusing, difficult, and often misleading.
All I wanted to do was spend my time well, find my discipline, and work in the right direction. This was often difficult, especially since I had no way of filtering the input myself.
If you have any suggestions of what you’d like to see in this free tool, please reach out to me at easein.toolkit@hotmail.com.
And if you’re a struggling student or beginner (or honestly at any level at all), and you want some input or advice on the games industry, please reach out to me on the same email.
The toolkit is in progress, and I am still looking for new features to add to it. If you would like a free copy once it’s out, simply enter your email address in the following link. This is completely free, and will stay free. I simply use this method so I can occasionally update people on the progress of the tool, and to send it out once it's ready.
Feel free to join the discussion!
