I need to create some winegum candy, and I've found out that the frosty shader together with a high level of transparency can do the trick.
However, the frosty shader seems to be incredibly unstable.
Sometimes it renders x number of frames without any problems and then suddenly the next frame never finishes.
This happens even though the only animation in the scene is a rotation applied to the winegum object. I also have some displacement mapping, some bump mapping and two (not area) light sources, but that's it.
Is the frosty shader a piece of s&%#, or could I be doing something wrong??
Would it be better, if I did this in XSI?? If so, how do I create something similar to the frosty shader in XSI??
Btw., I'm on Win2K, with SI 3.9.2 and Mental Ray 2.1.
Thanx,
Peter
