Gamma Issues W/ Photo-jpeg/mjpeg Codecs

Hi,

Sorry if this has already been covered...

It looks like Apple Photo-JPEG and MJPEG-A/B rendered files from Shake 4.1 still adds gamma. Looks like the Final Cut Pro team fixed this with 5.1, but Shake still has this problem. Does anyone remember off hand exactly what the offset should be?

At least I'm seeing this on OSX 10.4.9 and 4.1...

well personally i wouldnt be using any form of jpeg due to its lossy quality hahaha. but can you be more specific in what you are talking about?

it's the quicktime codec that's adding the gamma tag. if you were to just vi the .mov file and go to the end of file, you'll see a 'gama' tag. The quicktime codec is injecting the code in. What my work around was to put a gamma node in and set it to 1.182. That gives the output quicktime a bump up in gamma. So when you display it in FCP it should be the same.
