Geforce 3 ti500 vs. Geforce 4 Ti4400

Hi,

From reading around here I've found that GF4 cards can be hacked into quadro4, but with no ekstra preformance. So is it some opengl features that are missing? And my final question, would a GF3 Ti500 card hacked into a quadro card do as good as a GF4 Ti4400 card, or is there really a good reason to buy a GF4 card.
Anybody heard if there is a change in hacking the GF4 cards to quadro4's?

Yeah, GF4 Ti4400 is much faster than GF3 Ti500 (and it is already obsolete).

GF4 Ti4400 doesn't cost an arm and a leg. If you can afford it, go for it (forget the old GF3 Ti500). But if you want Quadro card, go for ATi FireGL 8800 (US$689, shop around for better deal)

Note that the Geforce 4 Ti 4200 has been released this month. It is supposed to be "G4 Ti performance at an G4 MX price". It costs just $100 more than a Geforce 4 MX 440, and the tests so far say that you don't need 128 MB video ram either for good performance.
I've ordered a new PC system with a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 64 MB, which should arrive in 14 days. I can then say more from my own personal experience.

If you want to save some cash, I saw some GF 3 ti-200's at Fry's last Saturday. $89.00!!! Can't beat that price for a card like that. Not sure how long they'll be on sale for. The cards were OEM. (that's if you still want GF3 cards) otherwise you should look into the GF4 ti 4600
