Geforce slowdown?

I just built my first system. I used a 1.2Ghz athlon and a Asus Geforce GTS card. It's only so I can potter about abit when I'm not a work so I wasn't really bothered about it slowing down with paint fx.

Anyway I tried it this weekend and it's fine - there's a slight delay when the brush first touches the surface but after that it's a fast as photoshop. Woohoo, what a bargain.

I'm a bit cautious about telling everyone else to get one but - it worked for me.

Try the "Overlay " win 2k reg update.. shoudl speed up those overlays a bit . Its posted on this site.. seems to work.. forces a "back-buffer " to be functional.

I'm not sure about GTS, I have "upgraded" version (Quadro2/VR Pro). With new drivers 11.01 I even got a check box in OGL menu. Personaly I'd recomend "upgrade" for GTS (via rezistor change) it does it job.

Yea, the overlay idea is great too... where is it? i've been off here for a week and missed a bit.

well, If you check it out in system d device manager you will see that probably there is still MS busmaster running. If you will try to install VIA BM 'by hand' it is luckily your system will lose IDE and will not be able to boot (inaccessible boot device). Newer versions of VIA installer will do that job for you. My system stay alive because I have HD on RAID controller (ABIT KT7A-RAID). ABIT is also sending a small note in new MBRD's with warning not to use VIA BM
