I have been modeling for awhile in Maya just doing simple models for dx9/xna video games over the past few years (mainly hobbiest here) and would like to step up the Texture quality for the models I make. I am by all means not a professional artist so I have no idea of what type of Wacom or Genius tablet I should get to use for painting textures for my models. I looked at the bamboo fun (medium and small) and I am unsure of the actual size that I would also be needing. Remember I am just painting textures and maybe doing some stuff in z-brush. Thanks for any help guys/gals :]

If you want to do art and not just replace your mouse with a pen for ergonomic reasons get a intuous.

I mena your thinking all thet money wasted, but then again if you are why by a stylus at all.

5 months later

I myself just bought a Genius MPad or such, 9.5" x 7.5". It's got excellent specs for photoshopping (<2ms response, 1024 pen pressure, 4000lpi widescreen format as I use dual monitors), and is of high quality construction. As a hobbyist here also it does me fine.  It cost me only $149.95AUD and beats down on the Bamboo range IMO, however, if you're feeling pro or just love your digiart and have the cash, go the intuos. In this department, you do get what you pay for. Wacom Intuos are the price and quality leader here, but I wouldn't recommend the Wacom Bamboos over the higher spec Genius Pensketches,MPads etc.

Good luck and happy hunting, tablets rule!

Recently got me a Wacom Intous3 a5 tablet and i am very glad that i did!
Looks very good and has a very good response time, my set came with mouse and pen for about 220 euro's

After some research on what brand/tablet to buy i ended up with a wacom.
I use it in 3dmax, zbrush and photoshop, and i am also started to use the tablet in poser and vue.
My personel specs where: style, tilt/presure, response time, amount of buttons.
Managed to buy a Intous3 instead of a Intous4 but it will defiantly do.

Got mine at tablet4u.nl a online store for tablets.
As dutch website so i doubt the ship outside Holland.
