GF2 -- 10.80's can auto disable "Overlay Enabler"

For anyone using the 10.80 drivers with GF2 cards along with the "Overlay Enabler," I just wanted to mention that when I open the OpenGL section of the Geforce2 Display properties and make any changes, the registry setting that the Enabler adds is disabled (changed to 0 instead of 1.) In other words, the drivers are automatically disabling the setting just by "Okaying" the OpenGL properties. When this happens, you can simply reapply the Enabler to get it back, but I figured that most people might not even realize that it had been changed.

I haven't tried this with any other drivers, so I don't know whether or not it's unique to the 10.80's or not.

It seems all the newer drivers automatically turn this reg edit off.. so jsut hold on to it and remmeber to re-apply it.
This is not an acceident . I think they are really trying to disable thir lower cost cards sot hat proffestionals are forced to buy the more expensive one when they really are all the same in many ways.

have you tried the 12's yet?

I haven't tried the 12.00's yet since the 10.80's are working well for me. I'll eventually upgrade to see if I get any speed increases, but the 10.80's are stable and everything seems to work correctly, so I'm just leaving good enough alone for the moment.

Do you happen to know any specific differences with the 12.00's over the 10.80's or 11.01's?

I'm running the 12.00's, the major differences with the 11.xx and 10.80 are DirectX8 improvements(Max will take benefit of it) , notice that the 12.00's and 11.xx don't have the Overlay option, plus the 12.00's seems to be the "official" drivers for the GF3.

In the Maya tools section of this forum U'll find an Overlay Enabler utility, it's stable and works nicely specially with trims and artisan tools.
