okay... let me see if i have this right:
For GI in softimage 3.9, i go into the photon director, choose the lights i want as a lightsource, and choose the objects i want as a transmitter/receiver.
This is all well and good when it comes to doing a frikkin room with a sphere in it (which seems to be the only uncreative thing any tutorial can come up with when it comes to describing the workings of GI)... but what about if i've got a BAGILLION parts that make up a complex model. A robot, a car or anything with highdetailed modelling, do i REALLY have to go in and select EACH and EVERY one of those peices of geometry manually, to assign them to the receiver/transmitter group???
That seems like a VERY VERY VERY unefficient way of setting something up. >SOB< there's gotta be an easyer way.
and even if i have the whole car, say parented it a null, doesnt that still mean that only the null that i've chosen to add to the receiver/transmitter group is being affected by the GI??
for the love of pete, there's gotta be a better way.
Sinserely,
That going blind from all the photons guy.
