Glow Intensity is Wavering

Hello All,

Newbie here in Maya 6.5, After Efffects 5.0.

I have some christmas lights in a render. I have assigned a glow to them with an intensity of 2. Problem is that from frame to frame the glowing halo varies in intensity when played back.

I understand that this will happen to objects that are entering or leaving the frame or objects that pass behind other objects. However, this is happening to glowing objects that don't do either of those.

How can I get this glow attribute to settle down and remain constant?

are you using auto focus? If so, turn that off
your glow will change ! It might not look that great so you'll have to recreate your glow in the material glow shader till you get it back to what you want. Auto focus will make your glow shimmer and pulse in an animation becouse its trying to recalculate for every camera or object angle.

Thanks for the tip but I'm having some difficulty putting it to use. I have checked the following places many times for an auto focus setting and can't find one:

Shader
Lights
Render Globals
Camera

Not sure where else to look. I can remember seeing this variable at one time but can not seem to find it now. Is it possible that it was moved for 6.5?

Can you please explain exactly where to find this variable?

I am a Noobie. I forgot to mention that I ate lead based paint as a child. Also the doctors suspect that I spent several minutes with the umbilicle chord wrapped around my wind pipe during birth which inhibited oxygen flow to my tiny undeveloped brain. I have a plate in my head from a car accident. Substance abuse is in my history. I have starved my brain of oxygen through countless acts of auto-eroticism. Got kicked by a mule. My uncle dropped me when I was an infant. One time, my helmet fell off in a football game and I kept playing. Blunt trauma, exposure to radiation and multiple concussions have all had their day with me. Lastly, I'm just not very bright. Could you please explain further?

Just for the record (and any other noobs that may stumble across this) The variable is called "auto exposure". Uncheck the box to smooth out glow intensity in animations.
