I wouldnt sya they are especialy good WEB design per se (id call it mutlimedia design thats not neccecerilty WEB design, and not even amazing at that). Both sites have pretty much missed the entire concept of how web SOULD work (this in itself isnt rare indeed its so common its a wonder things like google work at all).

I mean the first one is a llmost pure graphic, and sure it has nice flash gizmos that look cool but dont actualy make the sites message better, just confusing. Quite frankly the way its now also makes it virtualy imppossible for search eingenes rank the site (since it has no structure), this is indeed very bad for business. The main idea of the web is to trasfeer information, in as raw close to the bones format as possible. YOu can benefit from this in many ways for example pda users can use your sites.

the second one, breaks atleast 2 confortability rules.

A. it maximizes the first window! AAAARGH its my friggin dektop and if i say my widows should eb this size they should. NOw the dan thing spans my BIG monitor (ive paid money so i dont need windows to FILL my monitor) and i need to resize it as fist thing i do (TRUST me there are a big amount fof audences that kill this window here outright)

B. It open sthe flash into a asecond window... So teh whole a exercice was a moot. Then on a second note why a second window at all!?!? very vbad design.

See content keeps people comming, having a alot of flashing stuff isnt necceserily content. For teh second site its partialy justified for teh first not realy.

Its important to understand that web a s a media is different form magazines where the viewing pleasure iis half the game, often in web only the information is important. With pictures and niceness ranked per functionality not gizmoness (people have short attention spands they arent necceserily interested in playing around for 10 mins to find the info, unless it offourse is a game). So traditional layout stuff works wevry badly for web.

Ans on mutimedia well, if yoru not realy selling teh multimedia stuff, then limit it sagain people are after info, but comics can offcourse be the info here so mutimedia is okay there.

so i forgot to tell you about another well designed site http://www.phateggs.com/
that works nicely in terms of how this guy presents both his professional and personal work. i think this shows how to design a site efficiently; it loads well, info is easy to find, and the music set up is nice, etc..

i think he does nice work in terms of how work gets done and it's not pretentious, or 'too cool for you-know-who-you-aren't..', etc, ad nauseum.
