Graph Editor [curve Snapshot]?

Hi guys,

I am an animator using maya. As you know animating an object means ending up with a lot of keyfremes to clean up. So i was thinking is there a way to write a script (or anyone who got a script) that can store a snapshot of the current animation curves and put it behind the curve editor view, and then the original curves can be edited/cleaned up using the reference curve in the back ground? and there should be a way to erase the reference curve and snapshot again. This would lift a lot of darkness from curve cleanup.

Thanx in advance

Umm why would you do cleanup like this regulary? (if you do it right there should be no extensive cleanup, unless you work only with motion capture data in that case theres automatic methods) But yes you can do this make a expression and visualize it then inject the old curve to the expression. the expression is visible but not editable so its just a reference form now on

thanx Joojaa, well its not very essential but it would be nice to have something like this...

anyways, it would be very nice if some1 pointed me to a script or something.. and it would be even more awesome if some1 wrote the script I'm okay until the script is to generate a auto rig, but i havent worked with UI stuff that much (xcept creating a window and put controls in it)... so your help would be much appriciated ...

thanx

Aren't you talking about "buffer curves"? Built into the Graph Editor:
View -> Show buffer curves.
Then pick the curves you want to buffer, and hit the "Buffer Curve Snapshot" icon, just to the right of the tangets section. You can re-buffer them whenver you want, or flip the current curve with the stored buffer.

thets whet i thought initially but seems like he wants a picture of the current curve but oprpobably more than that any graphic function. But so that they all are visible maya only shows the selected curves buffer.
