Hey,
I still haven't found a graphics card benchmark Maya scene anywhere on the wild wild web! Would any kind devoted soul be ready to develope one for number 1 "My needs" number 2 "everyone's needs"?
The obvious reason for this is that I got screwed uppon once already by buying a FIREGL 1 (Yer I know pretty dumb hay). You might be about to say "But what's wrong with it", and what is wrong with it is that the performances equal the GForce 3s when it comes to Maya (which is not bad when you concider it is pd old) but it is completely unable to run a full screen AVI and just copes with running it in a window! This is not to mention what happens when I slap a heavy codec such as DivX (right now my AVIs run better uncompressed than with a codec(!!!)) but anyway that is drifting off the point.
Anyway coming back to the point, I see you all endlessly discussing GCs, so maybe is it about time to start benchmarking these little monkeys.
I could easily do it for myself and go around my friend's house etc but why not make it wide? Moreover I am sure there must be a couple of hardware gurues in here who must know what are the key things to test (polys? Shaded? hdw textured? What else?)
I guess the reason why we still don't have one out is because there are already tests out there such as Mark2000 etc. but it would probably come out with some really bad score for openGL GCs, so this is not quite what I need.
If such a test already exists then could you point me towards there? If it does not then "FIre in the hole! gogogogogogog...."
