Graphics Card Update

My reason to get a Quadro a couple of years ago was the hardware overlay support. If there were any other pros on that chipset family, I might have not noticed them because I was using a Quadro and had not have to deal with the issues of running Maya on a Geforce for a long time.

At this point in time, taking into consideration the latest Maya and Geforce releases, which are still the most powerful arguments to use a Quadro?

This is from a developers point of view, having usually low poly scenes, cpu power has priority over gpu, but I know that it was extremely annoying not to have hadrware overlay, therefore I mean accurate visual representation of maya usage should be a requested spec also (no errors in the viewports). Occasional gpu rendering, even though only for rendering tests, these should be high quality.

Feel free to bash if it helps to bring out the important points.

Kind regards,
Daniel

2 things,

1 overlay planes
2 the driver cleans up its environment better, so if you have 10 3d windows up quadro works much better. The nonquadros tend to taint the space over time so unitll you reboot they will get slower progressively if you have many windows up.

Theres a few other things too but not much worth mentioning. Mostly quadros die off slower than noquadros. And offcourse the warranty is WAY WAY better. I mean if your quedro dies no big deal youll egt on shipped by tomorrow no matter what and the consumer cards warranty may be so and so. Thsi may affect your insurance costs.
