Graphics Cards And Shake

Hi

I'm starting to work on a stop motion project that will be shot with a digital camera and we will work on 2K. I'm still searching and testing softwares and machines, but I'm inclined for the Apple solution - Quad core 3.0ghz, shake, final cut pro, XRaid/XServer and 30" cinema HD monitor. My question is: will the standard NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256M work fine? or do I need something powerfulll like NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 512Mb? Is there a significant difference for shake?

go with the stock 7300, it's a nice cheap card and you wont see a benefit of a high end card in shake.
besides it's really quiet too..

investing that extra chunk of money in really fast disks and a backup solution will give you more joy.

Thank you, Chris. I'm thinking about investing on a 7000Gb XRaid and fibre channel. Isn't it enough in terms of speed and security?

storage solutions really depend a lot on how your system is set up, what kind of software you're using, how many people are working with the same files and if you can afford any data loss etc..
all that will make an influence on your best solution so i strongly suggest you'll ask an expert.

ps: any sys admin worth his money will tell you that a Raid is not a back up.. its a good protection against down time but more often then notit wont save you from data loss.

Ok, I guess we will really need a real back up system. At present, I'm just searching and learning, and your informations were very usefull.
