you use maya history as a procedural animation toolset. herews a quick mockup of what 2 cones and 1 fillet can do, yes i know the filet could grow faster and the other brachh could look cleaner... but to my defence its a 20 min mockup:

Mayas totaly at par on this subject with houdini in most areas, on some better.
Yes its a bit harder to do than pfx but ist REAL nurbs gometry and a filet + displacement on top of thsi can make wonders. especialy whan used with prman.
