Hair And Fur Comp

I'm having issues rendering both hair and fur in maya software. Below is an image illustrating the issue. When fur is in front of hair, the alpha channel doesn't seem to recognise hair. I have tried using render layers, but I get the same issue since the use background material cant be assigned to hair or fur. Any insights would be helpful. Thanks.

have you tryed to get the same problem on an other object ? i mean, is it a bug appening all the time or just in this scene ? you can try to reapplying everything.

or do like me... drop your project or try shave and haircut.

I have tried during a year to apply correctly fur on a character and it is just a nightmare. No wonder why the big studios are writing there own fur system.
This one didn't change since at least 4 years.

try shave and haircut, it will resolve most of your problems et create new ones
