Halftone Pattern

First question:
I have to put someone in a old photo. The person must be keyed out fisrt. I have to make the person look like it is "in" the photo. So the background doesn't move but the forground is moving. To make it like the person is "in" the photo, I add a black and white checker pattern (very small square) on top of the forground with an Iadd or a Imult node. And it works but...

The thing is it only brighting with the Iadd or it only darken with the Imult. The color of the forground is not "popping" like in the background photo. In those old photos you can clearly see some color "smudging and popping" in the pattern. I don't know if you can follow me but if you understand my problem, do you have a solution for me.

Another question:
I want to move a channel independantly of the others. I have try to reorder the channel, move one channel put it back on top of the footage but the channel image is becoming black and white with the reorder node so, it's not working. How can I acheive this?

i cant really give you an answer till i know what it is youre doing. sounds like you are trying to comp someone over a different background, but i dont understand where you are going with the whole checker pattern thing. take some screenshots and link me to them explaining each one so i can help you out.

I finaly found a way... It was simple (as usual). I needed to match the bg with the fg. the bg are old 70's photos. In those photos, when you look closely, there is somekind of a pattern. I was trying to match that pattern on the fg. I managed to create the effect by "Iadd"ing a very tight checkerboard, add distorsion and blur and voila! But my problem was to recreate also the color change in those pattern. The contrast was higher, the saturation was also higher, etc.

So I just used the same cherckerboard as a matte to color correct. Sometimes when your in a rush, you don't find the solution right away. Anyway, thanks for your help.
