Hdri Settings In Mental Ray

Hello,

I'm new to this world of 3D modelling and this question is pretty basic. I was following this tutorial on modelling a screwdriver, when I came to the part where you have to render it using Image based lightning settings in Mental ray using these settings

But these settings were missing in my Maya 8. Instead there was only one button- "create HDRI map" or something like that. Now how do I go about doing this. I downloaded some HDRI plugins but I'm at a loss how to apply those. Please guide me.

You have to create a HDRI map(hit the create button). Obviously if you have nothing you cant edit it, and to have something you first need to create it..right?

Yes, I created a map, used an image and applied it. But its not happening.
